I got to meet Baauer management last week before the RL Grime show, one week after I was shooting Baauer press photos, New York… We just walked around the East Village trying to find some interesting lighting at night, got to shoot through some windows and I kinda liked the effect. Baauer is an up and coming producer, it’s pretty hard to put a name on his music, all I know is he’s gonna get big. Yesterday I went to this Shlohmo, LOL Boys and RL Grime show at Webster Hall Studio. Apart from my Folie Douce boys parties in Belgium, I don’t get the chance to listen to such good music in club very often. It really blew my mind. Anyway, I had the opportunity to shoot RL Grime on stage who’s becoming one of my iTunes all time favorite. Went a little fancy on the colors. Hopefully you’ll see more of him on this blog (god I feel like I’m a “blogger” now) in the future.

This Tuesday afternoon I got to shoot Adrian Michna. I met him last year at Jules Kims Select Summer Fridays at Le Bain. He happens to be an excellent dj/producer, very active on the NYC club scene. He’s currently signed on Ghostly International. The shoot was pretty fun, got to experiment with a smoke machine.

The weather was pretty bad on Thursday, and I could see some buildings actually fading out in the sky, thanks to the fog. I thought that looked pretty cool and grabbed my camera midtown.

Life is pretty good right now, it’s been a week since I got there and it still takes a while to get used to the frenetic NYC rhythm but it’s getting better. My friend Antoine introduced me a little more to the Queens so I made a little tour with my camera in Astoria and Long Island City. In other news, I already met a lot of good people, partied quite a lot, got to meet my favorite dj of the moment, Lunice. I also have a lot of projects lining up which should make the next few weeks quite exciting for me.

First post of my second trip to NYC. I definitely don’t have the same “wow” feeling than the first time, since I knew what to expect. On the other hand, I already know a lot of people here so it was pretty fast to get back on track. Last time I was here, it definitely took some time to get a circle of friends, I don’t have that problem anymore. The only thing I’m afraid of, I can’t allow myself to rest on my laurels, it’s a little too easy to hang out with the same people over and over. The more people you know, the more people you meet though.

NYC really feels closer to Belgium this time around, it’s almost weird. I mean, I woke up in Verviers, and I finished the day by watching Miami – Chicago with some friends before hanging out in Williamsburg. My apartment is pretty huge, that came as a surprise. The building is ghetto as fuck but it totally incarnates the NYC spirit of the 80/90s, dirty and cool, I actually like it. I already have a few projects lined up and I’ll surely update the blog pretty often. It’s good to be back : )

The folks at FormaT held their birthday party in Liège, I was there to shoot the event. Got pretty deep on this one, but I thought the kind of “dark” atmosphere suited the event pretty well.

Another video I made for the guys at Fool’s Gold. This one was an anniversary party held in Tribeca Grand Hotel, the venue was great but I didn’t have a lot of different angles to shoot at so I tried to focus on close up details. Funny story is that Action Bronson, one of the rappers on stage, passed me a joint and I couldn’t really refuse. The next hour of footage was pretty much fucked up (in good and bad).
